When you are there a cable car will take you in two steps to the Aiguille du Midi, a rock at 3842 m above see level, where the panoramic views of the Chamonix Valley and other peaks of the Alps of the French, Swiss and Italian side are unforgettable. Then continue with an electric rack-railway that will take you from Chamonix to Montenvers a point with explendid views of the Mer de Glace, a glacier 7 km long which have been a famous touristic point since 1908 when the Montenvers train started operations.
